Cory Tanzer takes over as CEO of Option Realty Group

by Emily Mack

Cory Tanzer, leader of The Cory Tanzer Group with Option Realty Group, is now CEO of the brokerage. He succeeds his father-in-law Kevin Stoffer, who co-founded the company in 2004 with his wife, Tracey Stoffer, and Ryan Moran, the current managing broker.

“‘I’ve done this for almost 20 years, and I hope you can extend Option for another 20 years,’” Tanzer recalled his father-in-law saying when he spoke with Chicago Agent.

Since its inception, the boutique brokerage has grown to include two offices, one in Naperville and one in the West Loop, and 45 brokers. It brings in roughly $100 million in annual sales.

“I’m proud of everything they’ve done over the last two decades, through up and down market and changing economy,” Tanzer said of the co-founders.

Tanzer has been in real estate for nine years, all nine of them at Option. He began by doing rentals and helping to launch the city’s downtown division, eventually recruiting more agents and forming The Cory Tanzer Group, which counts six total team members. As CEO, he will continue to lead that team, although Serena Phillips Dunn began running daily operations throughout the transition. “It’s going smoothly,” Tanzer said.

But that’s not the only transition taking place. Tanzer’s brother-in-law Andrew Stoffer is gearing up to become the firm’s managing broker as Moran ascends to the role of president this spring.
